About Me

About Me

I was born in Korea in 1986 to Air Force parents. I had the typical military upbringing. That is, we moved a lot. My father was strict and uncompromising, but my family was, and still is, full of love (when we aren't gunning for each other's throats.) I have two younger brothers, one is 2 years my junior, and the other is 12 years my junior. They are both really cool people. My mother currently works as a dental assistant, and my father as a government contractor.

Being in the military, I moved around a lot. My favorite location has always been the Southwest. The Rocky Mountains always have a special place in my heart. I've made a lot of good friends along the way. All have done well for themselves. I learned a lot of lessons there.

After my father retired, we actually were given the opportunity to stay in one location for more than 3 years. I went through all my high school years in one place. I made a lot of good decisions, and I made a lot of bad decisions. I made pretty bad grades, averaging a 2.34 GPA for the entirety of my time in high school. I chose the company of some really rotten people. I also made some really good friends who have been with me ever since.

I went to college at a large and pretty good university. My father was kind enough to pay for it. My undergraduate degree was in English with a minor in Asian studies. I pursued that degree because it was what I loved. I got a 2.94 GPA in that misadventure. Still, after college I had no prospects in the job market. I ended up staying in retail. It was a bad time for jobs...

After a year or two I married the man I fell in love with in college. Things were pleasant enough at first, but soon we started drifting apart. As we drifted, I found out what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to teach. I wanted to give students a passion for learning. After a while, and some bad choices for both parties, my husband and I got a divorce.

That's when I moved to a rural college town and started perusing my goals. I was enrolled at a private college nearby getting my Masters degree in teaching. I had a 3.33 GPA, the highest I've ever had, but unfortunately life threw me a curve-ball. I've been diagnosed with Conversion Disorder (Also called Functional Neurological Disorder and a host of other things. It's not a well researched or organized disease) It has caused me to drop out of school and rendered me unable to work even though I miss it more than words. Still, I keep trying. I'm finding ways to adapt and thrive.

I'm dating a local boy. I live with him and my three babies, Willow, Rowan, and Balsa. We've made a good life so far. I only plan on it getting better...

And more badass...
