Dream Home: Front Yard, Foyer, and Livingroom

So more on my dream house. This is the Front Yard, Foyer, and Living-room edition. The general theme of the front yard is classy yet whimsical. There are a lot of tit-bits and details that make the front yard fun. The living room, however, is very lodge-like as it incorporates the unfinished beams and open design from the bedroom and the kitchen as well as a stone fireplace.

The path leading up to the house is fun and a bit childish. Overall it draws the eye to the path and makes it pleasant.
101 DIY Projects How To Make Your Home Better Place For Living (Part 1) .... these look like carpet!:

There are fun details like fish floating in the grass
Fish sculptures in amongst the grasses // Great Gardens & Ideas - love this look. Wonder what I could make some out of. (First I'd need to plant the grass...):

And wisteria creeping over the patio. I love wisteria. I love the way it looks, and I love the way it smells. I can't imagine my joy coming through the front door and smelling such amazing things.
I want a wistia plant like this. Fell in love with them when I saw them in Italy.:

Pots overturned with fragrant flowers or pretty flowers such as lobelia. I'd also have my red lilies that I've had with me since graduation out front.
Terra Cotta Planter Spilling Over with Riveria Marine Blue Lobelia:

There must be a front porch swing! I love moving chairs, and nothing so much as swings. I don't think it would have 4 posts, more likely it would only have two, but either way I could rock myself in the mornings with a cup of coffee.
 :

Again, moving chairs are important. So I need rocking chairs out front. That way if my friends want to join me in the moving chair business while they are over parting.
want a porch with rockers!:

Another whimsical detail that I thought was cute.
How neat is this!?! Fish observatory... Follow Us! ---> DIY Home Decorating:

I like to have a durable and plainly visible house number for friends who have not been over our house before. This was something cute and something I could easily make. Makeing things for the house adds character to it.
DIY: How to Create Industrial House Numbers - using a salvaged wood plank, stainless steel screws, a template and a drill - via Instructables:

I want a unique door that accents the front yard. It needs to be both whimsical and classy.
Custom Made Walnut Entry Door:

I'm going to have the front door knocker of my childhood home. Don't let my brother tell you he's getting it, because it's going to be me. It looks a lot like this except brass and prettier.
This fox door knocker would look perfect on a storybook house (he reminds me of the Big Bad Wolf):

The Foyer is going to be fancy yet still slightly whimsical. The walls will be a sky blue with gold accents.
Zola wallpapers from Anna French:

There will need to be a table in the foyer for important things to be put on. I want it to match the walls.
LOVE:

And then there will be my dream: The mirror wall. This will be only one wall that will make the foyer seem bigger than it actually is, as well as spreading natural light all over.
A geometric mirrored wall conceals closets and storage spaces, which are located behind the touch latch mirrored doors.:

The living room is the first room after the foyer. It is full of wood and natural light. Therefore there will need to be lots of windows! I absolutely adore wooden rafters!
Reclaimed timber beams accent the barnlike common room at Lynn and Sir Evelyn de Rothschild’s Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, home, which was built by Rivkin/Weisman Architects and decorated by Mark Cunningham; the landscape design is by Horiuchi Solien. Circa-1930 lanterns (one is pictured) from Ann-Morris hang from the ceiling, and an artwork by Callum Innes is mounted above the fireplace.:

Then there needs to be a great stone fireplace with a gas fed fire. This way I can sit curled around it in the cold winters when the house is frigid.
If we ever redid the flooring in our house...this is it!!:

The downstairs bathroom will be stone and plants. It will also use the grey water system to save on the water bills.

Dream Home: Basement/ Laundryroom, and "The Party Cave"

As you go into the basement of my dream home you find the party-cave. I'd call it a man-cave, but it's for me as much as it's for the men...It's more of a party cave in my dream house. It's a room where we entertain guests inside. This is where all of our games are as well as a fully stocked bar. There's a big screen TV that smash bros or rock band can be played on.

I love this! Wood & pipe shelf for electronics under a wall mounted television.:

And speaking of games, all of our gaming systems would be present and accounted for.
Make the Ultimate Gamer's Cabinet! Can we do this when we re-do the game room?:

And there would be a dart board because darts are fun.
Dart board backing. My Wife and I made in our basement.:

And as I said a fully stocked bar.
Stikwood peel and stik wood wall planking:

There would be a billiards table too. I am discovering that I enjoy playing 9-ball, and I'd like to get good enough to beat my husband's father one day.
Basement bar, theater, and rec room. Absolutely in love with this. Comfortable but still classy.:

And there would be seating behind the couch in front of the TV so that people can watch the gaming or even provide more seating for movies or TV shows.
LOVE this idea! A couch bar! Perfect for man cave or theater type living room our even the holidays!:

Now, sequestered off in another part of the basement is the laundry room. This is a very important room. I'll probably spend a lot of time here. All appliances are energy efficient, and it's easy to transfer the laundry from one machine to the other. More importantly there are load bins where I can separate my laundry. There's also a sink for delecates and a...

retractable clothesline for when I need to dry things that can't be put in the drier.
Whitmor Clothesline, Retractable - I would love a retractable clothes line for our backyard. It doesn't have to be this one, but one that is retractable that we can mount outside.

Finally, very close by is a storage area that is neat clean and orderly. The bins are all uniform and are clearly labeled. Being a teacher there will be a lot of school stuff down here during the summer months.

Confessions

I see a lot of hate on Facebook lately, and a lot of it is aimed at me, though I'll never admit it.

Firstly, I am non Christian. I don't honestly know what I am yet, but I lean towards Heathen beliefs. That's not atheism. I believe my ancestors are watching over me and helping me where they can. I believe in the soul of nature and natural things. I believe they have a form of sentience. I don't really believe or not believe in dieties. It's just something I don't care about. If I live a good and moral life I'll be rewarded for it. I don't like being told I'll go to hell for anything. I don't believe I've been a bad person, and I don't know if I believe in hell.

Im not saved. I rescue myself, thank you.

And then there's politics!

There is so much political hatred."Trump or Hillary," Facebook cries. And if you have the nerve of voting for anyone else you might as well be voting for the other guy.

I vote Libritarian. It's the party whose ideals measure up to mine. I vote, not to win, but who I see the most fit for office. I'm not a monster for voting for a candidate I believe in. What's more, it's not just about the president, but who's in congress. That's more important, in my opinion.

But anyway, why are they saying I'm throwing away my vote? I'm not throwing it away. I may not be voting for the next president, but rather telling America who I want to be president.

I am bi. I'm awkward, but I do like women too. I don't actually see a lot of hate, but I know it's there.

Anyway. I purposefully don't respond on facebook. It would turn my mother's head. I guess I just needed a spot to vent.

Dream Home: The Back Yard, and Internal Workings of the House

So the most important part of the house is the back yard! And my dream backyard is the most epic of all.

First there is a pavilion with a jucuzi it is large enough for 4 people because winter jucuzi parties are the best! It doesn't matter to me if its in ground or not, but it has to be covered.
covered backyard hottub.:

With all the water features of the yard, my inner weabu would find it amid if I didn't have one of those bamboo clacker things. I forgot what they're called.
Shishi Odoshi Design: Learn All About Japanese Bamboo Fountain Shishi Odoshi:

Then I must have a large oak tree. I'm debating between live oak and burr oak, currently. But something that looks majestic, and can be climbed.
Southern Live Oak (Escarpment Live Oak), matches other trees in yard/neighborhood, drought tolerant:

In a different tree nearby I want 5 or 6 wind chimes that compliment each other's sounds nicely. When there's a big wind storm I can sit on my swing and listen to the music.

Speaking of swing, there will be a wood and rope swing hanging from a tree, either the oak itself, or a nearby tree. Swinging is my favorite thing to do. It'll be nice to swing and read on most days of the year.
outdoor swing, painted in french gray from farrow & ball:

I want statues around the property. Here and there hidden by trees or foliage. I want every one to have a story and an air of mystery. It'll be like the secret garden.
so pretty.. the coolest part of having a coronet is seeing what they do with their hair! (ok, and its just cool):

Along with full sized statues, I want fairy sized displays. I want fairy homes and hidden fairy statues. Much like the full sized statues it should be whimsical yet mysterious.
hobbit-house-for-your-garden.... Will make a few of these, and make a buck and sell a few to my friends and family :):

The back yard is also where I have my raised bed vegetables. I want tomato, squash, peppers, cucumbers, and berries, along with herbs and magical flowers like rue and yarrow.
Trellis between raised beds avoids over-shading sun-loving veggies while allowing vines to climb beautifully.:

And should I spawn the kid will have an epic playground. It'll have monkey bars, a slide, rock climbing wall, a trapeze, and a play house. I also think a pull-up bar would be fun. I used to do tricks on pull-up bars.
enclose the bottom of the swing set and add a door and windows to make a play house:

Every kid needs a trampoline. So do adults who may or may not be drinking. So a trampoline goes in the play area, as do swings.
SUNKEN TRAMPOLINE....COOL http://www.facebook.com/pages/Home-Design/280927288669293?ref=stream:

And a sandbox/chalkboard/climbing wall would be essential for a kid to play on too!

To make the kids area more fun, and safer, there would be a fence going around the yard. That fence would have glass marbles in it to make it more fun.
Marbles inserted in fence. >> What a fun detail!:

Inside the house, and the inner workings therein are wonderfully off the grid. Water is well water. The sun powers the house, and the only thing we pay for is the Internet.

Under one of the light switches is the story of the house and me, the one who built it...or if Joe builds it with me (<3 yes please <3) his and my story.
Every home has a story. Leave yours for a future tenant to find. How much fun would something like this be to find and read? - I put electrical breaker # on a piece of tape behind switch & outlet covers so I know exactly which one I need to turn off if there is a problem.:

Solar panels on the roof are what I want. I think these roof shingle solar panels are the most adorable thing. If they're actually a thing that exsists then I have those on my roof gathering electricity.
Simple Ideas That Are Borderline Genius - 25 Pics:

Since living in poorly insulated houses for the past 4 years, I have to have well insulated house and Windows. There are no good pictures of a well insulated house, but that's what I want.

Dream House: Kitchen and Patio

Staying with my house design of my dreams, I bring everything to the heart of the house: the kitchen. My dream kitchen, like my bedroom, is full of natural light. It's easy to clean and doesn't have a lot of mess on the counters. It leads directly to the patio for entertaining. And my patio is a safe haven for everybody.

This picture is so pretty with the skylights. I want so many skylights in my kitchen. The natural wood above matches the bedroom, and I really want that style throughout the house. I hate how small the kitchen is and those red cabinets are not my style, but I love the ceiling!

AD-Wonderful-Ideas-To-Design-Your-Space-With-Exposed-Wooden-Beams-08:

This is the color scheme I want in my kitchen! The dark wood and the light counter-tops look amazing! I also really like how open it feels.

The arches, the cabinets, the windows, the ceiling beams, light fixture, fireplace... wow.:

This stove and oven is amazing. I'd rather have a glass range because it's so much easier to clean, but having a separate griddle for pancakes (which I love) would be amazing!! Also, If I plan on entertaining a lot, I should also have a lot of oven space to make so much food for so many friends.

A thing of a beauty. Would love to have this one in my kitchen. Pro Grand Dual Fuel Ranges:

We must have a dishwasher! I hate the look of a drying rack on the counter! It doesn't need to be fancy. It just has to work.

Nice DISHWASHER:

The kitchen has to have a bar for casual dining. It's also good to have me be entertained by people as I cook for a party.

Coastal Kitchen Makeover - Sand and Sisal:

I want a pantry. More than anything in the house I must have a pantry.  A place that holds my food and doesn't look cluttered would be amazing! It doesn't need to be huge, but this one in particular is pretty. I love the shelving on the outside with the plants. If I'm going to have a lot of natural light in my kitchen I might as well have pretty plants.

Add a pantry to a corner by building the wall out!:

I want my pantry to be uniform and organized with lots of glass.
When it comes to pantry organization, it’s out with the old and in with the new with these tips from @apttherapy guaranteed to tidy up your space. Start by tossing out any snacks that are passed their prime. Then, keep all your favorite goodies in their places and within reach by storing them in airtight, labeled containers or wire mesh baskets. Extra points for allowing only one row of jars on each shelf.:

Cans will be visible and organized so I can see what we have at a glance.

I have a coffee nook in my house right now, and I love it! I want one in my dream house. It's a place to keep all the coffee making supplies we have and display our mugs. I drink a lot of coffee so having this is convenient and lovely.

Another coffee bar idea...because there is never enough room on the kitchen counter:

Now we get to the patio, which is an outdoor extension of the kitchen into an outdoor dining and entertainment area. The windows in the kitchen open up to the outdoor bar. This is where drinks are served from the ease of the kitchen.

I also must have a table outside. There's something magical about eating outside during 3 seasons of the year (Winter non so much)

Fabulous outdoor space: http://www.stylemepretty.com/living/2015/03/26/beachy-hamptons-house-tour/ | Photography: Emily Gilbert - http://www.emilygilbertphotography.com/:

The outside is a magical place. It's made of stone and has both fire and water features. I'd rather have a fire pit than a fire place, but otherwise it's a relaxing place to both write and entertain.

Beautiful back patio. Water-feature, fireplace & nice touch with the torches.:

KOI POND!!! Which drains into my natural pool, of course.
